They are filming a live action dragon ball z movie that is supposed to be relesed some time in '09. It's going to be Goku Vs. Piccolo. So that means if there following the manga or anime series, it will take place at the world martial arts tournament, before Gohon was born. I've been a fan of the series since i was 5 and I honestly beleive they're going to mess it up. But hopefully some one does it right (fingers crossed). |

Maybe it will get quite good if they'll have Michael Bay as the director (I was a bit afraid of how the Transfomers movie would be. But after watching it I was happy that it was really great and partially very funny ) |

Agreed, but I think the script was a bit ify and could have been better. And they should have had Hotshot insted of bummblebee, but that's just me.

One word: Sequel (rumors say that they will either make a sequel (Unicron Chronicles) or a prequel which gives more information on Cybertron etc. I'd like to see Arcee (RC?) in the next movie ) |

Not quite, it's the time when Unichron travels trough space and consumes other planets to get energy (and finally aproaches earth). It's the time when Optimus Prime is killed by Megatron on earth in Autobot City and Hot Rod (I think that is his name as far as I can remember) is finally able to activate the matrix to destroy Unichron (and is transformed into Rodimus Prime). I have to watch the movies myself again, I'm not sure if I got everything in the right order
I think they will use Unichron in TF 2 as a threat to Earth and the Autobots will have to rescue it. |

That would make it Dragonball then, wouldn't it? DBZ started with Goku introducing a very young Gohon to all his friends. Then again, I stopped watching the series pretty much after they stopped airing the series at 8 o'clock on Saturday mornings on Fox. |

I heard about the Live Action DBZ movie about 3 years ago. Supposedly was due out in 2008, but there was no actual official info to go on. Hopefully this is something official, and hopefully they don't wreck it.
Even if the director did a good job with a different movie, it'll always be a concern of mine until it's released and I know for sure, whether or not it'll be a flop. lol |

There it is a strange thing that I do not understand about the adaptation and the Italian translation of the name of Piccolo. You know that Piccolo is an Italian name that means "little" or "small " but in Italy the original name of Piccolo was changed in "junior".... also the "junior" word mean "piccolo", but I would like to know why if a name is already Italian was necessary to replace it with the English translation... |

The same reason most of the names are mispelled in the english translations. If you read the names from the Japanese versions, Tien Shinhan, is Tenshinhan....Yamcha is Yamucha, Bulma is Buruma, Krillin is Kuririn, Piccolo is Piccoro. In most translations, names are spelled differently to "match" their sounding, or to make it fit better.
Tis why I usually prefer to watch the Japanese versions, with eng subs. |

"piccolo" is also a musical instrument, for those of you who care to know. It's a flute, similar to a song flute. |

It belong to the woodwind instrument but, it is not a flute there are mayor differences to them like a flute has less button and is not as high pitch as it. |

It's quite funny that a lot of animes use german names, like "M.D. Geist" (Geist = ghost) or (quite oldfashioned) names like "Brünhilde", "Roseweiss" (Brünhilde is a name from the Siegfried Saga) in Sirius Scars. Everytime I read such a name in the subtitles I have to grin, it's a bit weird to me hearing the speakers pronouncing it. It sounds quite strange between all those japanese words |

I thought it was hilarious when the U.S. version of DBZ changed the name of the character "Mr. Satan" to a much less devilish "Hercule". I also thought it was hilarious that the DBGT series. as it's dubbed in the U.S., decided to use the Japanese pronounciation of one particular character's name... Vegeta and Bulma's daughter is named "Bra", but the dub calls her "Bulla". Funny that they emphasize the Japanese pronunciation for her, but not for her brother Trunks' name ("Torankusuu!!"). |

well, this certainly will be interesting. I'm not sure though if I'll spend money to see it. As some one has already said before, these movies tend to be botched. I'm already expecting Evangalieon to be a flop. |

In cases such as these, I tend towards unhopeful optimism. |

I'm allways hopefull for these kinds of movies, but most movies that hollywood directers touch torn out terrible(with a few exceptions).

At least it can't be worse than the first Live Action movie... Not seen it? Neither have I. What my friends told me was WAY enough. |

Yes: It was announced last year. Recently they began releasing teaser trailers.
Personally...I'm scared. The idea of a sweaty fat guy dressed as Rei, standing in line for tickets, periodically gives me nightmares. With that said, I disliked the series. I felt it was extremely over rated and over hyped, but the movie does look good. Supposedly that had a budget of 12O Million dollars to work with. |

You mean Legend of the Dragonballs? God...I rented the dvd and watched it all in Japanese with subtitles. The English voice casting is what made it suck so much. Reading what they were really saying made it mildly better XP
But hey, at least it wasn't as bad as the live action Fist of the North Star movie. Dear God! |

The whole reason most of these don't turn out good in ANY way, is because directors never like to stick to the story. They try to build up something new and different, using the same old things, from the same exact time period as the original...and it usually ends up blowing chunks down the drain. |

I like the animated movies too, but I'm talking about the live action movie the one with Jean-Claude Van Damme as Gile.
