That would depend on the time of day. Even in a town like BonBon, its not proper to start your day with one. One must wait for the sunset to switch to the hard stuff.  |

Maybe, maybe not... it's a bit hard sometimes to pin-down where and when a certain drink or cocktail was invented, and the martini is a pretty good example of that. What little info I found points to a cocktail invented in the 1860's called the "Martinez" that included four parts sweet vermouth, one part gin, and garnished with cherries. It's not certain when the traditional Dry Martini (five parts gin and one part dry vermouth, garnished with an olive) was invented, though it seems to have become more popular in the beginning of the twentieth century. Still, it's possible one could be a trend-setter in 1895 with a stylish martini in hand... |
