Well i looked over the posts about UFOs and extraterestrials but in thos threads now one asked did people belive in aliens.Becaouse most people think that we are the only inteligent creatures in the universe and that kinda bugs me.I had heard of a theory, where it states that we are not from this world and there realy wasn't such thing as "evolution"!An interessting subject and i would realy want to read what you think abou it |

A personal favorite discussion topic of mine, extraterrestrials, but that falls under the category of "My Personal Beliefs" and I prefer to have those discussions face-to-face if at all. Suffice it to say "I believe in them." |

As someone once said, "The universe is too freakin' large for it to have just ONE sentient race, don't you think?" |

Well, to be honest, I don't disbelieve in sentient alien life. I'm sure that, somewhere out there, there is an alien culture that has advanced to at least the tool-making level. I do not believe however, that little green men in upside-down plates flew a double dozen trillion light-years just to stick a metal rod up some farmer's rectum and stick a few cows in a blender. |

That's certainly a colorful way of putting it, Xebulon, and I tend to agree with you, to a point, though without the colorful thoughts you seem to have. When I think about and hear things like that, I tend to think "Research has to start somewhere.". As I write this here, another similar circumstance from this comic itself comes to mind, from Issue #3 page 24, a conversation between Betty and Ronald. It went as such: Betty: "Ronald?! Do you want to start from the top or from the bottom?" Ronald" Top, bottom, front, back...it's all the same for me!!!" Sorry, Ronald, better luck in the future. |

Please excuse the colorful metaphors. I decided to cut back on my caffeine intake, not the smartest of ideas when working a graveyard shift. But, meh. As to me views on the aforementioned matter, it has a lot to do with probabilities and gets kinda long and technical. I'll explain it if you all want, but I don't want to clutter up the board otherwise. |

I tend to believe in other sentient beings existing in our universe, and perhaps even believe in stories of people meeting mysterious beings, but I seriously doubt any of the beings that we've encountered were from another planet.
I didn't used to be a skeptic (I was a huge fan of the X-Files back in the day), but I suppose I became more jaded as I got older... |

Well, did aliens realy visit earth is an interesting question. The question, however,is how did all those strange drawings of flying objects and such ended up in ainchent art.Even the mayans had strange drawings of a man(or was it a man...?It realy looked more like a turkey... )on a spaceship.Did it represent the dream of mankind to take flight and explore the vast space,or was it a being from another planet?Pearsonaly I think thats its proposterous for turkeys to take a space ship on a stroll to Mars |

Oh come now, Xebulon, children need attention more than most . And as for you, YoungCesar, why should aliens be any more or less intrested or involved with turkeys than cows? |

By my personal standards, the only ones that really matter at the end of the day when all is said and done in my life, no offense, I think of this as more a chipping in of conversation, a suitable phrase might be "Putting my two cents in.", but I would'nt consider my little tidbits a part of this conversation. Apparently by your personal standards, and those of many others, I'm sure, however, I am conversing in this so in that light, let's converse. You may want to note, however, that when I decide to actively participate in a conversation, I'll be "talking" much more. And who knows, maybe in the future of this topic I will decide to actively participate, my preferences are not rules carved in stone, after all . |

Wow, I haven't seen that show in too long. Every Friday night my family and I used to sit down and watch it. At least until it started getting just plain awful (when David Duchoveny left the show).

Children? I'm not sure what you mean there.

It could be an early example of Pantheistic Solipism, or mass hallucinations possibly. Or a desire for one to see what he or she wants to see. These are just the typical skeptical answers though. It's quite possibly that there were alien god-like beings that once visited the Earth. Who can say for sure?

That's odd, I don't remember typing that....... methinks it may be a sign for me to go to bed......at 2 am . My apologies for that small bout of sleep & spell, please disregard it. I suppose it was bound to happen eventually, typing in my sleep, oh well. Goodnight, or morning, everyone. |

Okay, okay man.I see your a bit off the fashizul Back to the subject,i heard of a theory that humans are not realy from earth, meaning we did never evolve from primates. It states that we are an alien race, come from Syrius 5(or somthing like that, somebody correct me if it isnt right)Crashed on earth and lost all sorts of contact to our planet.Lets see you brainstorming on that one |

Sounds like wishful thinking and human egotism to me. "We're not evolved from lowly apes, we're creatures from a far more superior world than this one!"
Gee, where have I heard that before?
Not to pee in your cornflakes, but most theories like that tend to push me further away from being a "UFO-believer" and closer to a "skeptic". |

That with the alien humans or human aliens or what is it is kind'a interesting but I just imagine it...and thik about it We crush whit a big bad flyin' ship ending on a planet having no connection whit ours ok I can take that but thik Why the F**k did they started from the stone age I think that a race able to build a space ship would have at least a weel or somethink like that. What everyone lost theyr mind while the ship crashed I dont belive it really I belive more in the "Mayans goin' through interdemensional portal"theory |

Where that come from?Yes,i understand your point of view, but this theory has its strong points too,for you see,if your a beliver of evolution, then answer me this Johnny:What hapend to Homo Neanderthalensis, when, and its a fackt, when he met Homo Sapiens. As history dates the apperance of Homo Sapiens marking the disaperance of the neanderthals. And why did the evolution chain brake like that. While as the theory about us being aliens, too has its strong points.Becouse in all of the years that earth has existed, nature has never produced something to so to say"hurt"her, while as the human is destoying nature.Am i right? And about the theory about mayans being interdimensional travelers-No coment! Although crashing on earth with no technology, with a cetain "amnesia" was not soo belivable |

As for what happened with the Neanderthal man, there's two theories:
1) They died out, unable to adapt to the end of the Ice Age and compete with Homo Sapiens (the theory most people believe)
2) They interbred with Homo Sapiens, and essentially became "lost" in our gene pool (a less popular but plausible theory)
My theory? Homosapiens pushed the Neanderthals out of their hunting ranges, forcing them into the more inhospitable mountainous ranges. Over time, due to the scarce diet and hard living on the mountains, they became much shorter creatures, becoming squat, robust, and very hairy. The few encounters with these small men-like creatures in our early history resulted in the stories of dwarves and gnomes in Europe, and these creatures would eventually become the stuff of legends as they slowly became extinct due to their inability to compete with the more adaptable modern humans.
Evolution is about the survival of the fittest, and Homo Sapiens have always been an extremely aggressive species. Sometimes evolutionary lines become deadends, and a species like the Neanderthal simply disappears. Sometimes it fourishes, and continues to propogate. We are not only among just a few species of animals that have learned to adapt to just about every environment and climate, but we actively change our environment to adapt it to our own needs. Perhaps that's what kept Neanderthal man from continuing to propogate... they simply were unable to adapt to changing climates and a new competitor to food sources.
And to say that nature is not capable of creating something that will "hurt her" makes me wonder what you think causes stars to collapse on themselves or for asteroids to collide with our planet every now and then. That would be nature. What you percieve as our "disruption" of nature could very well be what we were intended to do... to reshape the world for the next step of evolutionary change. I do believe that we are incapable of "destroying" the earth completely, and that any major ecological disasters that occur as a result of our own negligence is not irreversible. Nature learns to adapt, even to the most harsh environs. Don't forget, there are entire ecosystems living near the toxic vents of volcanoes, and in the dark, sunless depths of the ocean floors.
We might mess the place up a bit, but I still believe it's human egotism to believe we are completely capable of destroying all live on our planet. That old argument has always sounded like humans "acting tough". Sure, we may not be proud of our polluting and our eradicaton of species (like the Neanderthals), but by admitting fault we seem to secretly be giving ourselves too much credit.
This is why I don't get into these discussions, because I always, always play the role of "devil's advocate"... |

Don't blame yourself. In all our discusions we stand for what we belive is right As for the theory about Homo Neanderhalensis,i think you do have a point I actualy don't stand up for any of these theorys, don't get me wrong,i just want to hear the other's oppinuion.I realy do belive that man is a plague on this planet, but i hate people that dont accept what they are.It is how we are born,it is how we are.Its humans nature.I think we are allso, the most,so to say "greacefull" being. We created history, that marks our true nature, but we also created poetry, songs, the undersanding of sex.How its not only reproduction and continueing our spiecies, but its a pleasure,a fealing like no other.
Stars collapse on themselfs because it is their "nature".It is how they exist. While some things are ment to live, others are ment to die eventualy.Asteroids collide on planets, beacouse it is inevitable. This is not nature,it is more fate,it is how things are. |
