I just did a little research of the Victorian era and I came across something that made me cry a little inside, and it was Anti-Masturbation devices. I learned that back in Victorian times it was considered a sin to masturbate thus leading to the creation of special devices designed to prevent both men and women from masturbating.

This got me thinking. Since Bon Bon is the town of pleasure and sex would these devices be illegal in Bon Bon? It’s so sad to think that pleasuring yourself was considered a sin and that you were forced to suppress the natural urges that people get. I am so glad that Simon never made Mary wear a chastity belt or anything like that, otherwise I would have a greater reason to hate him.
Mad

I don't see the devices becoming illegal unless they start to interfere with the prostitutes.

Was? You don't know much about... a certain, popular religion, do you.

Perhaps. But I still think that since Bon Bon is the town of pleasure such devices would be illegal due to its intended purpose being to suppress sexual pleasure and desires. It would simply be bad for both business and pleasure.

Unless a good portion of the town and even the visitors somehow become righteous and pious enough to by and use those machines to curb their urges would I think that Simon would ban them but considering the First Law and the fact that the people are having sex en mass I really don't foresee that happening.

Well regardless of whether they would be illegal or not, I’m just glad that Mary was never forced to wear a chastity belt, that would have been awful. Sad

Simon pretty much did by keeping her locked up her whole life.

I thought that Bon Bon was a town that only the most secretive or privileged people were privy to its whereabouts. If everybody knew about it, then there would probably be a lot more people there, including those who stand against what the town is all about.

I think this has been... fogged over a bit in recent times. It hasn't exactly been brought up on a regular occasion, so kind of hard to keep in mind.

I was only referring to the townspeople and those who visit that they would need to become religious enough to buy and use those machines enough to interfere with open sex/prostitution that goes on.
