Thats what I was saying too to Vanessa.
But he wrote "Card Sharp" in his original description.

Name: Doctor Horton Rubius Parker (Often just Doc Parker)
Age: Thirty
Profession: Doctor (Card Sharp)
History: Taking a break from the wild frontier, the Louisianan Gentleman decided to visit the famed Castle of Delights. His father a former military surgeon taught his boy well how to handle scalpel, stitch and bandage but there was a bit more flare in his heart and he was drawn to the riverboats and card tables more often then not. As one may guess, part of his reason the frontier behind came from trouble with gambling as he fell into debt and when during a streak of wild luck was accused of cheating. Threats were made with guns, fisticuffs flew and Doc Parker took what money he could squirrel away and set sail across the ocean to leave (hopefully) nastiness behind and forge a new life. Currently working as a doctor to earn his fare but any extra is taken to the Castle to be spent on the splendors and gamble as an honest gentleman. While he does carrying a pearl-handled six gun, he has yet to pull it from the holster and often uses the gift of gab to defuse a situation as he feels violence is the last refuge of a desperate soul. The good doctor besides his love of cards also he has a penchant for cigars and whiskey.
Description: A tall stag sporting a black blower cap, in formal black suit with tails accented with red and silver, the young buck wears on his lap the caduceus (as a symbol of the healing arts) and a pair of spurred bona fide cowboy boots. Not found far from the card tables, his blue eyes are sharp and alert watching the faces of his opponents or the scampering tails of the ladies. He is the epitome of the Southern gentleman and good natured doctor.

Hm, I looked up card shark and card sharp in the dictionary and came up with this: "card shark: an expert cardplayer" "card sharp: a professional card player who makes a living by cheating at card games" Which of these applies to Doc Parker, I wonder, and what is the penalty for cheating in the Delight Castle? |

I'd highly doubt cheating will be tolerated very well is all I can say. |

I'd say that's putting it mildly. I can't help but wonder if there are more exact rules and punishments concerning cheaters though. |

Seems a fair enough punishment to me, to multiple offenders, that is. A fine, an ejection, a barment for a period of time and finally, permanent banishment from the casino, if not the entire establishment. That would make sense to me. |

I just realized, Doc Parker has already shown up in the Delight Castle casino in issue #3, and he's sitting at a card table with... Stella Sunflower, the magician! If a skilled cheater at cards plays against a skilled magician (more than likely quite skilled in card tricks and sleight of hand, I'd suspect), I'd guess their skills would either cancel eachother out or make for an even more interesting card game... |

My word, you're right! There they are, plain as day. If they're both using their own sleight of hand tricks, it would make for a very intresting card game indeed. |

Heh, you name it, it'd be done: Stacking decks, dealing from the bottom, middle AND top of the deck, palming cards, in short about every form of dirty double-dealing you can think of. Fella could get an education that way! |

A great big thank you to Vanessa and all for this!!!!! It is really cool to see it. Its belated and for that I am embarassed (damn work and school for holding me back). And I am making a mental note to check the boards more often!
And, damn Doc looks cool!
I had originally intended card shark but thought that it derived from the word card sharp. Parker would not cheat while in the Castle.
And I like the idea of him facing off sleight of hand skills with Stella, its a cool idea!
Again, apologies and very big thank you!

Actually, I could see him working as a 'card sharp' at the Castle- Set a theif to catch a theif, much like casinos do today. All the skills of the card sharp, but wearing a white hat you might say. |
