I finished the jigsaw of Martina in her blue outfit in about 20 mins. Is there any way the game can time how long you take? That would be a good competition Smile

The Imperfect Picture of Martina with all the flowers was too hard for me Sad Those background pieces look too similar. I'll keep trying Mr. Green

No, there isn't any time trial mode. I just used the clock on my computer to time myself.

The idea has already been thought of and suggested. The problem is that it would require recoding the games to have an encryption so that people can't cheat by posting/sharing fake times.

It's a technical issue really.

Adding this feature is not Trivial as the idea may sound like an simple solution. Other sites out there that have such a thing, are not bullet proof. And I've seen them tampered with and hacked before. People posting their own high scores and such. And the score board gets reset, etc.

(The better sites have an encryption scheme.)

I'll have to come up with some similar encryption scheme that prevents high score tampering. And the high score must be reset once in a while.

For competition that is based on 'who can do it the fastest' results in the "lowest time possible". Which the cap limit is "00h:00m:00s" of course. There will be some finite barrier that ton of folks will reach.
Assuming that 3mins is the most humanly possible time- The score board will eventually fill up with say everybody at 3mins.

The novelty of this competition will eventually wear off. Thus the reason for resetting the board so that it is still fresh and fun for those who are new to the puzzles.

Yeah- It does give you a good feeling once you solve the puzzle, when the photo morphs in and the puzzle lines morph out.

It feels like you've accomplished something!

Even for me, and I'm the programmer. Smile

I doubt it if timing adds to the fun by solving jigsaw-llike puzzles.
I have seen it before and never liked it.
The reward is in seeing the endpic and the feeling you solved it. Razz Razz
This is specially true if you solve a puzzle with Martina as subject(object) Smile

Timing takes away that feeling partly imho.
I mean you can drink coffee /watch tv, browse th eforum at the same time or whatever when you solve it, there is no need to hurry

For imperfect puzzles you could go counting the number of moves you make. I have seen that implemented.
I see not much in in this.
There always will be a huge difference the first time you solve a puzzle and the next time you solve the puzzle, eventually everyone can solve the puzzle in a time much faster then when tried the first time Smile

(Just my thoughts)

Thanks for your explanation Ron. Sounds like an awful lot of work to me. I was more curious that the language would allow you to time the user, as I don't know much about Flash programming.

I suppose different people get rewarded by different things. For me cheating is sometimes the most fun part of the game Twisted Evil Not that I'd cheat on your games of course

Seeing a picture of Martina is surely the best reward Very Happy

The problem is not the timing. The timing code is very easy.

It's recording the time. Meaning when the game post back to the server how long it takes for you to solve the puzzle.

Playing the game is done local to your computer, and your local computer times the game. And then post back to our server for the high score.

This is the part where people can cheat, if somebody knows how the game is posting the scores, that somebody could skip out playing the game and post to the server and desired score.

The server is the central time keeper (the high score board.)

Anyways- just wanted to mention it's not related to time. It's related to posting the high scores. Games where the high score is kept track on your computer can be cheated.

But I hope to have some sort of encryption system setup later on to allow for a series of High Score based games. With an encryption method, it is a lot harder to cheat. (Almost impossible, but if somebody is attempting to cheat, we'll detect it.)

It would be fun to have games with high scores!

Hey Ron!

Yeah I know what you mean. Don't worry too much about it yet. It was just a brainwave, but might be cool to implement in the future.

We're all looking forward to the blackjack and pokergame. Wink

Wow, looks like I've started something. You could take this even further and have a time elimination mode. That is, you get a certain amount of time to solve a puzzle. For every piece that you fit though you could get a 10 or 15 second time bonus, to help make it a bit more fair and appealing to play. If you do a puzzle game like this, Ron, I get royalties on it, eh. Smile

Thought I'd put that to the test on the one you guys are calling the "wheel puzzle". The first time I completed it in 19 minutes, the second time I completed it in 14 minutes, the third time I completed it in 15 minutes, and the fourth time I also completed it in 15 minutes. So while you may do it faster than the first time, you won't necessarily do it faster than the last time you did it when doing it multiple times.

Can you do the same with the imperfect puzzle nr 2?
I am sure you win a lot there Smile

If Ron puts in some of the A Type Imperfect Pictures then perhaps I will do it with one of those. I'm not very good at doing the C Type, and usually pass on them because they take me so long to do.

Hey bennie, there are lots more Strip Blackjack games with Jana at eAdultGames in the members section, and you would also get to play Strip Poker with Martina dressed in her Santa's Helper outfit.
