An almost impossible proposition for me, since I have so many favorites that fit so many different genres and moods, I could probably tell you a handful of them today, and they'd be a different list from what I'd tell you tomorrow or the day after that.
So, instead, here's some new favorites that I've only just recently discovered on DVD:
JCVD (2008 French dramedy/crime-caper starring Jean-Claude Van Damme)
The Violin (El violin) (2005 Mexican drama)
Let the Right One In (Låt den rätte komma in) (2008 Swedish vampire romance film)
The Taste of Tea (茶の味 Cha no Aji) (2004 Japanese family drama)
Timecrimes (Los Cronocrimenes) (2007 Spanish sci-fi thriller)
The Wrestler (2008 American drama starring Academy Award nominee Mickey Rourke) |

I have the same problem, Johnny. I think I'll just stick to listing one of my most loved favorite movies.
The Phantom of the Opera |

I'm also gonna have to agree with Johnny, there are so many good movies! But a few of my favourites are:
Titanic
Spirited Away
Howl's Moving Castle
Dirty Dancing
Moulin Rouge
Suppose they're all 'girl'-movies |

Hmmmm, I can't say, they all turn out to be very much an interesting flick, but I usually watch something once and thats it. Though I must say, the Aliens series by Steven Spielberg was my biggest series in horror and the AVP that followed it. |

over all I'd have to say Backdraft. if you want to get into specific genres, well i'd have to write up a list. |

Ahem...I'm going to have to agree with quite a few of you....
And surprisingly, I think alot of French movies suck. I like others.
Johnny's Hell Ya it's Tottaly Awesome List:
Labrynth
BeetlejuiceAshton's Hell Ya it's Tottaly Awesome List:
The Phantome of the Opera
Chaosengine's " " List
Hot Fuzz!
MissAgent's "" List
Spirited Away
Moulin Rouge
And those are the ones I agree with...Now, My list.
Princess Mononoke
Godfather Trilogy
Scream Trilogy
Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Dark Night
Raiders of the Lost Ark(both of 'em)
Fight Club
Psycho
The Lion King
The Hunchback of Notre Dom(?)
Finding Nemo
Little Nemo (kick ass movie. If you didn't see it, you're shit)
The Matrix
The Animatrix
Lost Boys
The Forsaken
American Werewolf in London
American Werewolf in Paris
Ginger Snaps
And numerous others I can't list, as it would add another page onto this thread, I am quite sure.
And yes, I am aware I watch movies WAY, WAY too much.
All the bloded movies are mah faves. *^^* |

I have a soft spot for Jurassic Park. I like all three of them, but the first one is my favorite. I've watched it since I was a kid, and I don't think I'll ever get tired of it.
I also very much like the first Starship Troopers, though the two sequels aren't particularly good. Still, the first one is good solid entertainment to me.
The original Star Wars trilogy of course. I don't particularly like the new ones.
All the Indiana Jones movies. I'd rank them like this: 3, 1, 4, 2. The third has always been my favourite, and I've never really liked the second one as much as the others. It's too dark.
Both Ghostbusters movies. Again solid entertainment, and again a nice flashback to my childhood.
Shaun of the Dead, because I love zombies. I'm not that big a fan of all the other zombie movies I've watched, but I do very much enjoy the new Dawn of The Dead. I also like the Resident Evil movies.
Kingpin. Because it's a lot of fun and it has the best villain of any movie: Ernie McCracken.
Dumb & Dumber because I think it might be the movie that has made me laugh the most.
And because I'm a bit of a geek, I'd also add Demolition Man and Judge Dredd. I'm always entertained when watchign those, and I honestly don't understand all the hate they get.
I know I'm forgettign a lot right now. But I just can't list every movie I like a lot. Most of these are also a couple of years old, because then I can better judge them based on the number of times I've watched them. |

Hate to break it to you, Rune, but Steven Spielberg had nothing to do with any of the Alien movies. The first one (Alien) was directed by Ridley Scott (who also directed Gladiator and Blade Runner), the second (Aliens) by James Cameron (director of Titanic and Terminator 1 & 2), the third (Alien 3) by David Fincher (Fight Club and Se7en), and the fourth (Alien Resurrection) by Jean-Pierre Jeunet (City of Lost Children and Amélie).
Spielberg wasn't even a producer for any of those films, nor has he had any influence on the AvP films either. Sorry. |

Oh lord, don't get me started on the Alien series or I'll be here all week.
One of my favorites, and probably the least well known, is "The Legend of 1900". |

True enough. I feel the same way about The Wrestler...
And I thought I would add, before anyone asked, that the first Predator movie was directed by John McTiernan (who directed the first and third Die Hard movies and The Hunt for Red October), and Predator 2 was directed by Stephen Hopkins (whose only noteworthy directorial accomplishments beyond this movie seem to be the Lost in Space adaptation and the fifth Nightmare on Elm Street movie) |
