I have recently seen the alternate ending for I Am Legend and must say that I enjoyed it better than the original. It's not because of the fact that Robert Neville(will smith) lives, but because I think it is a little more realistic. I mean
if the leader of the infected is smart enough to make a plan, move Ed(the manikin), and rig a trap to capture Robert, then he would be smart enough to know what the grenade would do and if he wanted his mate back safely then he would have stopped trying to break the glass and would have tried to communicate what he wanted. All in all buying the movie on blu-ray was a good decision. |

I haven't seen the alternative ending myself. Given what I've read about it, I can see how it would fit with the rest of the actions of the alpha male.
On the other hand, I think that such an ending would perhaps make the infected appear too human.
But I really would like to see it anyway. |

I think trying to get his mate back makes him look quite human to me I was a bit disappointed by the original ending, I thought he would be able to convince the leader that he has a cure (and a lot of us wondered why he didn't have UV Lamps in his lab, there would have always been the risk that one of his "subjects" might be immune to any kind of anesthesia and this would then be the last way to disable it)
I think I will rent the DVD the next days to watch the alternative ending
Oh, did anyone notice that in the endscene the SUV she used to get to the last humans looked like it just came out of the factory? I mean driving hundreds of miles should at least leave some dustmarks on the car (or did she wash it to leave a good first impression *g* ) |

It was a pretty good movie except for the ending. One thing that bothered me was the whole idea of escaping to Vermont. I guess that they were trying to say that if it was cold, than the virus died out. Why not go to Canada? Why stop in Vermont. I mean dont get me wrong. Vermont is a great state and all. But if "cold" is good, why not go farther north? |
