This happened when i saw a notice on Financial Times, October 13th 2007
An article about Algarve (in Portugal).
This is the map of Portugal:
Now take a look at the map on Financial Times:
That's Algarve, all right, but above it, SPAIN?
Now what's this? We are no longer respected?
They said they would repair their mistake, but so far, i've seen nothing.
How could we lose so many respect? in 500 years? yes, in the 16th century, we were the most powerful country in the world... |

Ah, but maybe the question should be "What have you done in those 500 years to keep that respect?" |

Me? I wasn't even born 500 years ago
Now seriously, one of our kings died in battle, and left us no heirs, so for 60 years (1580-1640) we were governed by three spanish kings, the last two wasted our money. Thanks to them, we lost most of our colonies in Africa and Asia to England, France, and Holland(Netherlands). We no longer recovered after that.
Oh, and right now, we have lazy workers (but who cares? we have great beaches.) |

I meant "you" as in "you as a people". And great beaches always deserve respect, so for that at least, I salute you! *salute* |

thanks, and that's why i love the portuguese way of thinking.
It can be the worst country in the world (and trust me, we are very close to that end), but as long as we find something good in it, we are the best.
and this is a typical portuguese beach (in...algarve)

The CNN still thinks that the GDR (Germand Democratic Republic) still exists, at least in their weather forecast map of 30th October, 2007 XD (I will try to post the screenshot when I can find it) at least they didn't mix up Spain and Portugal as the Financial Times. |
